Colorado Super Shoot Site info!

Welcome once again!

First and foremost, Colorado Supershoots is NOT affiliated with any other workshop, seminar, group or association other than those represented or endorsed by Colorado SuperShoots on behalf of Jay Kilgore.

Second: CSS is not limited to JUST the Colorado area! our primary instructor has taught across the west and mid west and is open to travel to any other parts of the country! The primary purpose of CSS, is to up the level of photography in this state, by bringing in a large number of nationally as well as internationally published models. To make Colorado known for more than it's mountains escapes.

Colorado Supershoots is NOT here to say what you're doing now, isn't good enough. It is not here as a way to say anyone affiliated with it, is better than you or anyone else, but to say we recognize a serious void exists in this state with regards to national spot light. We talk to many photographers per day, they all talk about the local magazines. While we have nothing against local publication, how cool would it be, to pick up an issue of FHM, Maxim, Perfect 10, ROCKSTAR and so on, and see YOUR STUDIO there? How cool would it be to charge models for your expertise and KNOW you're delivering the goods? These are things Jay Kilgore has and is doing right now! Jay uses his workshops to teach you how to get great images with out using hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of equipment to do so! Did you know, 16 of the first 20 published images Jay had, were taken with the first generation Canon Digital Rebel, the EOS 300D?

Colorado SuperShoots is open to EVERYONE, regardless of your photography background! Jay has has everyone from the amateur's amateur, to internationally published photographers attend his workshops. EVERYONE can and do learn something when working with Jay. On the flip side, Jay learns from you as well! CSS is not the type of workshop where the instructor knows everything and is there to show you "how good" he is. In fact, Jay encourages you to try new things (inside the models comfort zone of course) be different, figure out how he would light it and use his idea, to further tweak your vision. Meaning, if you're the person who just got their camera, or person who's shooting with 10 Canon 1DS Mark III's or 16 Nikon D700's and D3G's we ALL learn from each other.

Besides all the above, when you attend Colorado SuperShoot's, you are going to work with many of Jay's "personal" favorite models! Many of Jay's models don't want to model full time or for just anything, so they work with him to come up with some of his works. At his workshops, you're exposed to everything that is his!. Lets be honest, we're ALL looking for that fresh new face. How many of us have the exact same models in our book? by looking at Jay's work, how many of them can you say are in your book? out of 20 displayed, 2? 3? no more than 5 that's for sure. Having fresh faces keeps people looking at your work.

Colorado SuperShoots is the ONLY Colorado based workshop that will put you in touch with nationally published models. Everyone from Playmates to model site models, CSS is ran and funded by a guy who has connections and the respect of some of the worlds best models. How many people in Colorado will have Ali Sonoma or actual Playmates in their book? you will NOT get this chance with out coming to the CSS workshops!

As Colorado SuperShoots is making it's way around the state/world, we get a fair amount of questions asked, so we thought we'd start addressing some of them:

Q.) Currently, I attend X school of photography, I don't need workshops or anything of that nature.

A.) Yes! you do! Jay likens photography college to medical college. Before a Doctor can be called a Doctor, he or she must not only attend many years of in class training, but also work four years of on the job work. Meaning, school will teach you the bare basics to survive, only by working in the real world, do you get to see what is practical and what was needed to get you a passing grade.

Q.) What's the difference between a Learning workshop and a Shooting workshop?

A.) A Learning workshop is where I will go over posing, lighting, composition, ethics everything, and have you shoot it behind me. A Shooting workshop is usually when we have the big name models out and less time is spent teaching vs shooting. The Learning workshops compliment the Shooting workshops. By attending the Learning workshops, you'll have a far better understanding of light, composition and posing, so when we get to the Shooting workshops, you'll have more time to shoot and put more emphasis on getting the shot, vs looking at the back of your camera display.

Q.) You say "SuperShoot" as well as "supershoot" what, if any, are the differences?

A.) "SuperShoot" is with famous models, models that are being flown in to shoot. Small "s" "supershoot" are the local workshops with local models.

Q.) I don't want to attend your workshop, but can I get model X's info?

A.) Most likely no. As stated before, many of the models that Jay features in his book, are models who came in for a regular session, and by Jay asking them if they wanted to come in for a workshop, they agreed. Many of the local models don't have a real interest in pursuing model photography, so working with them outside of CSS isn't common. That being said, make sure you leave your info with Jay and he'll be sure and pass it along. Jay does not manage any model, so he will pass along your info.

Q.) Is there a model release to come to your workshops?

A.) Everyone that comes to a Colorado SuperShoot workshop, is coming with the understanding that this is a portfolio building and expanding shoot. Under no circumstances, are attendees allowed to sell or put images on pay websites. If this is an avenue you chose to explore, please discuss with the model after the shoot is completed.

Q.) Do you travel to other states to teach?

A.) Yes! Please feel free to contact me and we'll get it setup!

Q.) Where do you find your models?

A.) I have several sites that people have contacted me from, and many of the models are referrals from other models.

Q.) How did you get started?

A.) Looong story, but if you have time, read here and In Spring 09, I'll be teaching a "How to get started in Model Photography" class that will tell you EVERYTHING about starting a LEGIT photography company!
